Mito City

Mito has been good to all of us. The Japanese people have been kind enough to help us with our luggages when we got to our dormitories. They also helped us with everything, from buying laundry detergents to buying food, so that we would be able to settle down and feel at home in this foreign land. We toured Mito City along with the Tokiwa students and I was amazed at the history behind the city of Mito. We went to the Kairakuen Park, one of the biggest parks in Japan, the old house, the Tokugawa Samurai School, and the Mito Station.

I can say that the Japanese people are one of the most polite people in the world. When we went to the grocery store, James told me to listen carefully because someone kept on saying, "Eeeeehhhh...." and when we listened carefully, We found out that every single time a customer comes in, they say "Irasshaimase." Another thing that we noticed was the way that the store clerks in the mall are very helpful despite the fact that we do not speak Japanese and we have a hard time understanding each other. They always smile to us and assist us when we need their help.

So far the experience has been great and I know that there will be better experiences to come.
